EasyThumb is a free tool that lets you preview and download the thumbnail of a YouTube video. We built it to work without accounts, sign-ups, or tracking. This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to your information when you use it.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the EasyThumb website and its YouTube thumbnail downloader (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

In short: we do not require an account, we do not ask for your name or email address, and we do not sell your data.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

The only thing you enter into the Service is a YouTube video link or video ID. We do not ask for, and you do not need to provide, any personal details.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information in server logs when you visit, such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version, and device or operating system
  • Pages requested, and the date and time of the request
  • Referring website

This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and keeping the Service running. It is not used to identify you personally.

4. Local storage and cookies

EasyThumb does not set its own cookies. We use your browser's local storage for one purpose only: to remember your light or dark theme choice. This value stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

5. Third-party services

Some parts of the Service rely on third parties. When your browser connects to them, they may receive your IP address and basic device information, in line with their own privacy policies.

  • YouTube / Google: thumbnail images are loaded and downloaded directly from YouTube's servers. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts: we load the Poppins typeface from Google Fonts to display the site correctly.
  • Hosting provider: our hosting and delivery network may process request data to serve the website securely.

If we add analytics or advertising services in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

EasyThumb is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

6. How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • Deliver, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Protect the Service against abuse, fraud, and security threats
  • Diagnose technical problems and improve performance
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

7. Data retention and security

Because we do not collect personal accounts or store the links you enter, there is very little data to retain. Server logs kept by our hosting provider are retained only for as long as needed for security and operational purposes, and are then deleted or anonymized. We use HTTPS and reasonable safeguards to protect the Service, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Since we do not maintain user accounts, we generally hold no personal data that can be linked to you. To make a request or ask a question, contact us using the details below.

You can also clear your theme preference through your browser's site data settings, or use your browser's privacy features to limit what third parties receive.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Please review it periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
